Chemical sunscreens include myriad ingredients that work together to absorb UV rays across the UVA/UVB spectrum. The common active ingredients in chemical sunscreens include oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate and octinoxate. They are known to irritate sensitive skin and contribute to the degradation of coral reefs.

Several countries have banned these chemicals and others are in the process of banning them. Oxybenzone is a potentially hormone-disrupting chemical that is readily absorbed by the body.

Jojoba is a drought-resistant evergreen shrub native to South-western North America. It's known and grown for jojoba oil, the golden yellow liquid coming from the seeds (about 50% of the weight of the seeds will be oil). Jojoba oil moisturizes the skin and makes it soft and supple.

A plant based ingredient that helps water to mix with oil

It's a natural material produced by honey bees to build their honeycomb.

Helps to distribute the pigments nicely and evenly on the skin.

It's a little helper ingredient coming from corn, rice or potato starch that can help to keep skin mat (absorbent), to stabilise emulsions, and to keep the product together (binding).

Propanediol
Propanediol is a natural alternative for the often used and often bad-mouthed propylene glycol. It's produced sustainably from corn sugar and it's Ecocert approved. It's quite a multi-tasker; it can be used to improve skin moisturization, as a solvent, to boost preservative efficacy or to influence the sensory properties of the end formula.

Phenylpropanol
A naturally occurring floral component with a delicate scent that can mask the odor of other raw materials but is not noticeable in the final product. It also has remarkable antimicrobial and preservative boosting abilities.

Caprylyl glycol
It’s a handy multi-tasking ingredient that gives the skin a nice, soft feel.

Ethylhexylglycerin

Sodium chloride
Sodium chloride is the fancy name of salt. Normal, everyday table salt.

Arc Gentle provides mineral, full-spectrum transparent protection while its zinc oxide is certified non-nano. Its special formula provides a protective barrier on the skin as soon as you apply it.

Zinc products with larger particles tend to leave a slight white tint on the skin.
Our micro-fine formula has been developed to eliminate the chalky effect. Arc Gentle is light to the touch and once rubbed in has a transparent finish.

Since zinc oxide is a phiysical blocker, it works as soon as you apply it. Use a quarter of a teaspoon for your face, and about 1.5 ounces to cover your body. Apply the sunscreen, covering your skin evenly, especially those easy-to-skip areas like your ears, neck, eyelids, and hands.
